Horoscope

A horoscope is an astrological chart or diagram that represents the positions of celestial bodies, including the Sun, Moon, and planets, as well as the ascendant and mid heaven signs of the zodiac, at a specific moment in time and over a particular location

Purpose: Astrologers use this chart to analyze a person’s character and to predict future events. The belief is that these celestial bodies exert an influence on human life, particularly on the newborn, based on their mythological character and their geometric relationships with other bodies.

Common Usage: In popular culture, such as in newspapers and magazines, the term “horoscope” commonly refers to an astrologer’s interpretation or forecast, often based solely on the position of the Sun at the time of birth (Sun sign astrology).

Etymology: The word is derived from the Greek words ōra (“time” or “hour”) and scopos (“observer” or “watcher”), meaning “marker(s) of the hour”.

Astrology and Science: Practices surrounding astrology have been recognized as pseudoscientific since the 18th century, and numerous scientific studies have found no correlation between birth dates and personality or intelligence.
